How to spot a crypto scam before it costs you

The patterns almost every scam shares, and the simple habits that keep you out of them.

Most crypto scams look different on the surface but work the same way underneath: someone creates urgency, asks you to move money or share a secret, and makes it feel like a normal part of the process. Once you can see the pattern, they are much easier to walk away from.

The three things no real platform asks for

A password, a seed phrase, or a payment to "unlock" something. CoinHubX staff will never ask for any of these, in a DM, in a group or in a comment. Anyone who does is a scammer, no matter what their profile says.

Impersonators

Fake admin accounts copy a real name and photo and change one character in the handle. Before you reply to anyone claiming to be from CoinHubX, check the handle against our official channels: coinhubx.net, X @coinhub_x and Telegram coinhubx_channel. Real admins never DM you first.

"Guaranteed" returns

There is no such thing. Any offer that promises a fixed profit, asks you to send crypto to receive more back, or runs a giveaway in our name is a scam unless it is posted on our official channels.

Paying outside the trade

On a P2P trade, pay only through the payment method shown on the trade page, and only after the trade is open and the crypto is in escrow. A counterparty who asks you to pay a different account, pay early, or release escrow before the money has landed is setting you up.

Keep your proof

Screenshots of the payment, the trade chat and the receipt are what a mediator looks at in a dispute. Keep them until the trade is closed.
